Indirect Fire Protection Capability, Increment 2 – Intercept (IFPC Inc 2-I)

The Indirect Fire Protection Capability Increment 2-Intercept (IFPC Inc 2-I) is a mobile, ground-based weapon system that will be designed to acquire, track, engage and defeat Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Cruise Missiles (CM) and Rockets, Artillery and Mortars (RAM). The System will provide 360-degree protection and will simultaneously engage threats arriving from different azimuths. A block acquisition approach will be used to provide this capability. The Block 1 System will consist of one or more interceptors, development of technical fire control (TechFC) and a Multi-Mission Launcher (MML), and a Sentinel software upgrade to support the counter UAS and CM missions. The Block 2 System will develop interceptors, sensors and TechFC to support the counter RAM mission. The IFPC Inc 2-I System will use the Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Command and Control (C2) open systems architecture. The IAMD open systems architecture includes multiple sensors which have the capability to provide target track data through the IAMD Engagement Operations Cell (EOC) to the IFPC Inc 2-I System. The IFPC Inc 2-I System will be transportable by Army common mobile platforms. The IFPC Inc 2-I product entered Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction in FY14.
